Remember how I said because I recently watched The Lord of the Rings that I was going to be posting a lot of stuff related to it? Well here is the beginning. Why not start with Legolas?
WARNING: If you don't know anything about The Lord of the Rings /The Hobbit, you will not understand most of this.
If you don't already know, there are two types of Elves in Middle-Earth: Silvan and Sindarin. Lots of people think that Legolas is 100% Silvan, but he is not. He's mostly Sindarin. Thrandruil is Sindarin and comes from a long line of Sindarin Elves. Legolas's mother, however, was Silvan, so that makes Legolas part Silvan; but mostly Sindarin. Thrandruil, as most of us know, is racist (I'm not saying he's a bad person though) and dislikes anyone who is not Sindarin (with an exception for his wife). We learn this by reading The Hobbit (by J.R.R. Tolkien) and by watching The Hobbit and paying close attention to how he treats people, especially Tauriel.
Focusing on his behavior towards Tauriel, he threatens to kill her, and would have if Legolas had not stepped in.
Ignoring everything he was taught by Thrandruil, Legolas grew up a good person, loving everyone no matter what they are. He fought for what he knew was right and went against his father's will and followed his own heart.
If you want me to post something on Legolas's back-round/heritage, let me know in the comments!
