I don't know about you, but I love the Lord of the Rings. I'm a die-hard fan. I watch at least one of the movies every week, and I can answer almost any trivia question from both the books and the movies.
My favorite character is Legolas. No, it's not because of his looks, it's because of his character. He's brave and gentle and kind and so many more things, and for that I look up to him.
Something else about me is that I'm extremely perceptive when it comes to my favorite fandoms and characters.
While watching the Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (again) I was listening closely to everything concerning both Legolas and Aragorn, because for a long time I have been wondering what it is between them. Now I understand.
When Legolas first meets Aragorn (as he was told to do by Thranduil), Aragorn was around nine years of age. Imagine Legolas meeting a child, and learning that this boy is a King. I think Legolas would spend a lot of time with Aragorn; not only to learn his name, as was his task, but also because Legolas is a Prince and perhaps he could be there for Aragorn, who would eventually have to learn the truth of his past.
Imagine now Legolas playing with a child Aragorn. He probably played hide and seek with Aragorn, he probably told him countless stories. Legolas, if you think about it, really watched Aragorn grow up.
Now think about sixty to seventy years later, to the Lord of the Rings. At this point, I don't think it's just friendship Legolas feels towards Aragorn, but also maybe a fatherly protection for him. In the movies, we see many times how much Legolas really cares for Aragorn. After every battle he goes to Aragorn immediately. It's easy to tell that he'll willingly die to protect Aragorn.
This is just something I can't stop thinking about (in a good way). . . I just love imagining Legolas playing with a child Aragorn.
It's Star Wars time again, and I've now seen the Last Jedi twice. Each time it was awesome.
Spoilers ahead, people.
Okay, first of all: Kylo Ren. No one liked him in the Force Awakens, let's be honest. In tFA he was labeled by all fans a "crybaby with anger issues"... at least that's what I labeled him. But let's face it: in the Last Jedi, he was pretty awesome. The whole backstory with Luke and Ben gives you a glimpse into why he is the way he is, so I can respect that.
Next, Rey. I loved what they did with connecting Rey and Ben through the Force. I was really just waiting for them to kiss. I mean, come on Ben, just JOIN REY. Please.
The one part that disturbed everyone (except Kylo Ren fangirls) was the scene where Kylo Ren was shirtless. Why is this in my review, you wonder? Well, I was talking with a friend about the Last Jedi, and she told me about an article she read. She said that the Kylo-Ren-shirtless scene wasn't as a joke, it was actually to show viewers that Ben and Rey couldn't just hear each other, they could also see each other.
Luke Skywalker. I have never been a fan of Luke. In this movie, they should have taken away the humor with Luke, I really didn't like it. But other than that, I thought Luke was pretty cool. I mean he faced the whole First Order as a hologram.
I mean yeah he died afterwards but YES.
Finn had always been my favorite. He's like: awesome. I really loved his character in this movie, but the whole Finn-and-Rose thing... I'm not too big on it. I honestly prefer Finn and Rey, but that's just me. There's really not much to say about Finn in the Last Jedi... yes he went to find a master code breaker. But that was all. Nothing exciting.
Poe is incredible. In the Force Awakens I saw him as a wise character, but the Last Jedi really shows who he is and that he'll blow something up before he thinks. He has, apparently, a quick temper, but no matter what, we'll always love Poe. Always. I don't have his POP character for no good reason.
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." If Rose was named Brittany I still wouldn't like her. I am NOT a Rose fan. She was literally pointless in the Last Jedi. The whole thing with the code breaker was pointless as well. I feel like Rose was just there to BE and as a love interest for Finn. So yeah. I don't like her.
*Phasma enters the shot* *epic music plays* I'm a Phasma fan. She doesn't do much. But she's awesome. I am highly disappointed though: I wanted a big reveal in this movie. I want to know who Phasma is. And now she's DEAD.
D-D-DJ. Was hilariously amazing. I want to see him again.
So these are some of my thoughts on the Last Jedi. Did you disagree with me, or were you nodding 'yes' the whole article? Tell me what you thought in the comments!
